住宿

当您的孩子住院时,决定您和家人的住宿地点非常重要。

在医院陪护

If your child is hospitalized overnight at Boston Children’s Hospital, one parent can stay with the child in his or her room. 大多数病房的椅子可以展开变成小床,而部分病房的窗台凹室有内嵌睡床。

There are showers in each patient room (except for the Intensive Care Units) for parents to use, and lockers and safes may be available where you can secure valuables. Laundry facilities are located on the first floor of the Farley Building. The unit provides towels and bed linens, and toiletries can be purchased at CVS on the second floor of the Fegan Building.

Please notify your child’s nurse if you would like to stay overnight in your child’s room.

Twenty-six additional sleep spaces and several shower facilities are available for parents of patients in the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

Sleep spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis for parents of patients in the ICUs. Parents can request a sleep space room or shower access in the Hale Family Center for Families.

Patient Family Housing Program

COVID-19 updates and precautions

Whether you are submitting your first application or you have stayed with us many times in the past, please familiarize yourself with the program’s current housing policies as we have made several changes to keep our patients, their families, and housing staff safe and healthy. You can view that information here.

The Patient Family Housing Program provides affordable accommodations for up to 35 families, to any parent or guardian of a Boston Children’s Hospital patient that lives beyond 50 miles from the hospital, while their children receive the medical care they need from Boston Children’s. The program offers housing at two locations: Devon Nicole House 和 Yawkey Family Inn。

The houses feature:

  • communal kitchen
    • The kitchens are available to one family at a time. Once a family is finished preparing their food, we ask that they take it back to their room to eat.
  • private bathrooms
    • Private bathrooms are assigned to individual families but are not attached to the guest rooms, so you would need to exit your room to get to your bathroom.
  • living room areas (temporarily closed due to infection control precautions)
  • free Internet access
  • free laundry facilities
  • wheelchair accessibility
  • secured facilities
  • 24-hour staff
    • The office is open every day 8:30 上午 to 10 p.m, including holidays and weekends. Staff is on site 24 hours a day, but is only available after hours for emergencies.

Become a Patient Family Housing Program volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Patient Family Housing Program. Our volunteers are instrumental in helping us achieve our goal of providing a warm and supportive home-like environment for our guests. We depend on our volunteers to assist with daily operations of the Yawkey Family Inn and the Devon Nicole House, as well as to host meals and events for our guests. We house 35 families and encourage our meal, holiday, and food-drive volunteers to donate with our total number of families in mind.

Volunteer opportunities (for individuals and groups)

  • For the safety of families, volunteers, and staff, we are unable to welcome on-site volunteers at this time.
  • Creative groups and activities: Though we cannot host volunteers in the houses at this time, please let us know if you'd be interested in dropping off individual craft or activity bags for the families.
  • Donating a meal for the families: Out of an abundance of caution, we can only accept meals that are prepared and delivered by a caterer or restaurant during this time. We are unable to accept donated home-cooked meals. Potential meal donors are encouraged to call or email us to coordinate a catered meal drop off.
  • Adopt-a-Holiday: Donate a festive holiday meal or host a holiday food drive.
  • Food drives: Sealed pantry items are always appreciated. If you would like to host a food drive for the program, please keep in mind that community meals have been suspended and family units in the houses will not exceed three people.

Depending on your interest, you may be considered a short-term or long-term volunteer.

Long-term volunteers who are making a six-month to one-year commitment must complete an application and orientation with the Office of Volunteer Services at Boston Children’s Hospital, in addition to the application with the Patient Family Housing Program. This process includes the need for CORI and TB/immunizations test.

Short-term volunteers are individuals or groups that would like to donate a meal or host an event, and need to complete the application process with the Patient Family Housing Program only.

If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Sharon Healey at 617-919-3455.

If you are interested in volunteering, please send a completed application by email to familyhousing@childrens.harvard.edu or by fax to 617-919-3451.
