The Speech-Language Pathology Program of Boston Children's Hospital offers a variety of specialized graduate internship opportunities for outstanding graduate students in communication disorders interested in language and learning disabilities.

The Speech-Language Pathology Program has preferred affiliations with the Boston-based graduate training programs, although special arrangements may be made for students from other training facilities.

Clinical fellowships

Clinical fellowship opportunities depend on whether we have an employment opening in a specific program within our department. Boston Children's does not have standing clinical fellow positions. Highly qualified clinical fellows are welcome to apply when we do have openings. Available clinical fellowship positions are posted at https://jobs.bostonchildrens.org/.

Graduate internships

All students interested in a graduate internship are vetted through an interview process. Qualified students are:

  1. From an ASHA certified program with which we have an established legal contract.
  2. Referred by their field placement coordinator who has vetted candidacy to match the specific demands and offerings of a placement at Boston Children’s Hospital.

If you are from an institution with which we have an established legal contract for placement, we ask that you contact us through your university field placement coordinator. We are unable to accept requests directly from students without first receiving the approval of candidacy from the field placement coordinator.

Our graduate internships are currently on a six-month rotation: Jan. 1 to June 30, and July 1 to Dec. 31.

We do not accept applications for general placement inquiries. The speech-language pathology training opportunities at Boston Children’s Hospital are across multiple specialty programs, and we assume all applicants have first explored our websites and determined a targeted area of interest. Some of the programs/offerings we may include in an internship announcement are: Voice and Resonance, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Augmentative Communication, Autism Language, ALS Augmentative Communication, Inpatient Augmentative Communication, and Speech-Language Pathology (general speech/language evaluations and therapy).

All applicants must identify the one program of interest when applying. Applications to multiple programs is not allowed.
